The European Consuymer Payment Report 2018 is based on insights from 24,000 consumers across 24 European countries. It provides an overview of consumers' ability to pay bills on time and highlights evolving attitudes towards financial commitments. This report was released in November 2018.

While some consumers report feeling more financially secure, one in five still relies on borrowing to pay bills, indicating a persistent financial divide in Europe

Need for financial education

Nearly half (48%) of respondents wish they had learned more about managing household finances in school, underlining the necessity for better financial education for consumers of all ages.

Parents face unique challenges

Households with children are particularly affected, with 27% having borrowed money to cover expenses for their children, reflecting the heightened financial strain on families.
