European Consumer Payment Report 2017
The European Consuymer Payment Report 2017 is based on insights from 24,000 consumers across 24 European countries. It provides an overview of consumers' ability to pay bills on time and highlights evolving attitudes towards financial commitments. This report was released in November 2017.
Growing optimism amidst economic recovery
Despite concerns about a weakened European economy, many consumers exhibit a positive outlook towards their personal financial situation. Over half of young respondents (aged 18-24) believe their finances are improving.
Social pressure to consume
One in three parents report feeling social pressure to buy products for their children that they cannot afford. This pressure is exacerbated by social media influences, particularly among younger parents.
Financial literacy gaps persist
While many consumers feel they have adequate financial education, a significant number struggle with basic financial concepts. This gap underscores the need for improved financial literacy initiatives, especially in schools.
